Ray LaMontagne How Come Demo Version Tabbed By Dave Hamilton (Hami41)
Unless I missed something, I think it's A D the whole way through while adding the suspended note (3rd fret 1st string) on the D here and there (and even on the A towards the end of the song).
Here's the main riff:
e|-----------------------2--2---3-2------------------------------| B|--2--2-----------------3--3---3-3------------------------------| G|--2--2-----------------2--2---2-2------------------------------| D|--2--2--------------0-----0---0--------------------------------| A|--0--0-------0-------------------------------------------------| E|---------0-2----0-2--------------------------------------------|
Listen to the recording for the strumming rhythm.
Here's the A and D Chords. Notes in ( ) are optional that I throw in from time to time using my pinky finger just to mix it up a bit. I know Ray hits the notes on the third fret, I'm not sure about the notes on the fourth, but he's definitely doing something extra on the D chord sometimes (try hammering on the 2nd fret note on the third string).
-----A----D----
e|--(3)---2(3)---------------------------------------------------| B|---2----3------------------------------------------------------| G|---2----2(4)---------------------------------------------------| D|---2----0(4)---------------------------------------------------| A|---0-----------------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------|
