So here is a tab and chord scheme of Black Or White... For any suggestions or comments, please use the e-mail adress above. Also feel free to visit the website of my band Orion! You can download our demo at the audio section. The site is still in Dutch, but we're working on a English content.
Now the song!
The main riff is played in E and D. In the E-part there are some hammer-on's... So listen to the record to get the rythm right! It's hard to explain the rythm, but here's a shot!
(4/4) | E5 E5 E5 . | D5 . E5 . | => a "." (1/4th note) is a rest, you have to ring out the chord.
The used chords: (there guitarist doesn't use a lot of basstones!)
E A D G B e
E5: X X 9 9 9 X => of course you can use the normal E-chord, but then the "funky effect" will be gone! D5: X X 7 7 7 X => same as the E5 chord! A : X 0 2 2 X X A5: 5 7 7 6 X X B5: 7 9 9 8 X X NC: X X X X X X => you play no chords!
The main riff (riff 1) goes like this:
h = hammer-on
E5 D5 E5 e:-------------|-----| B:--9h10-10-11-|-7-9-| G:--9--9--9--9-|-7-9-| D:--9h11-11-11-|-7-9-| A:-------------|-----| E:-------------|-----|
In the bridge there is a kind of "violent" guitarplaying with (I think) a chord change between B5 and A5, I use a slide kind of way to make a violent and chaotic kind of sound.
The rythm goes like this (but listen to the record to get it right!):
.. .. . . .. => each "." is a 1/8th note!
(4/4) | B5 B5 A5 B5 . | but... there are two endings in the bridge, where the last chord is not a B5 but an A5!
The riff of the bridge (riff 2) goes like this:
s = slide
B5 B5 A5 B5 e:----------| B:----------| G:--8-8-6s8-| D:--9-9-7s9-| A:--9-9-7s9-| E:--7-7-5s7-|
The last riff is in the rappart. The guitarist plays the E5 chords with an extra E and B on the 12th fret. You only play the high tones of this chord. E A D G B e The chord in riff 3 looks like this: X X X 9 12 12
